Leafs Nation has been holding their collective breath for an update on Ilya Samsonov, who was injured against the Boston Bruins this weekend during a Brad Marchand penalty shot, falling awkwardly with his knee bending behind him.

Samsonov finished the 2nd period but did not come out for the third, leaving Erik Kallgren to tend the net in a tight game. Thankfully, Kallgren was able to turn away all 7 shots he faced to shut the door and secure the 2-1 win for the Leafs.

Following the game, there was no update made available on Samsonov, who underwent tests on Sunday and Monday to determine the extent of the damage. The temperature on the situation was raised a bit when Samsonov was placed on IR and Marlies starter Keith Petruzzelli was signed to an ELC late Saturday night.

Well, thankfully, we should be able to lower the temperature, as Samsonov was back on the ice for a limited session on Tuesday, working with goalie coach Curtis Sanford. We know that Samsonov will miss at least a week after being placed on IR, but thankfully, he looks to have avoided any major structural damage to his knee. We should have an update from head coach Sheldon Keefe following Tuesday's practice.
