The Toronto Maple Leafs threw everything including the kitchen sink towards Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, but the Panthers hung on for dear life as they secured a crucial road victory to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.

After the Leafs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, the Panthers scored 3 unanswered goals, including 2 goals in the first 1:06 of the second period off of some brutal turnovers and soft passes in the Leafs' own zone. The Leafs ramped things up in the back-half of the second period and the majority of the third but Bobrovsky continued to stand on his head as he made 34 saves for his 5th consecutive victory in the post-season.

The third period was increasingly frustrating for players, coaches, fans, and especially general manager, because they created ten-bell chance after ten-bell chance but somehow couldn't squeak one past the goaltender. They hit posts, cross-bars, had the puck in the blue paint, but nothing to show for it at the end of the night.

Speaking of general managers, Kyle Dubas, was visibly upset and was shown on the Sportsnet feed throwing a water bottle across the room out of pure frustration as his team lost home-ice advantage and have to go into the belly of the beast in Sunrise, South Florida to try and take the next pair of games to at least make things interesting. Not only did he huck the water bottle but he was visibly distraught and uttering some pretty nasty four-letter words, however as the camera panned over, Jason Spezza looked as stoic and calm.

The Maple Leafs did well on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning and are now forced to do the same in the second round before it's too late.
