The Toronto Maple Leafs have added Jason Spezza and Wayne Simmonds to the NHL's COVID Protocol list on Friday night. The pair will join John Tavares and Alex Kerfoot, who were placed in COVID Protocol earlier on Friday.

Spezza was slated to make his return from suspension on Saturday against the Canucks after an appeal led to Gary Bettman reducing his 6-game suspension for kneeing Jets defenseman Neal Pionk to 4 games.

Wayne Simmonds went through a bit of a scoring slump to start the season but still has 4 goals and 6 assists to his this season playing in mostly a depth role.

The Leafs have recalled forward Alex Steeves and defenseman Carl Dahlstrom from the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

With cases exploding around the league, it seems inevitable that the NHL season will be paused. Saturday's game against the Vancouver Canucks is questionable, but as of this point, the NHL hasn't announced a postponement.
