It's no secret, the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to move on from starting goalie Frederik Andersen. Andersen carries a modified no trade clause where he has a list of 10 teams he can't be traded to so the Leafs have plenty of teams to work with. One team that has shown constant interest in Andersen is the Carolina Hurricanes and there was a deal on the table from the Leafs but the Hurricanes weren't willing to pull the trigger. According to Aaron Ward during an appearance on SiriusXM NHL Radio, during negotiations the Leafs were willing to move Andersen to Carolina if they would receive Dougie Hamilton in return. That was a big no from the Hurricanes. Both players have one year left on their contracts at almost the same salary cap hit.Hamilton would step into a role on the right side of the blueline for at least one year and would bring another hometown boy into the mix. Would you have liked to see this trade happen?
