The Toronto Maple Leafs and John Tavares return to New York tonight to face the Islanders. The last time the two teams faced off in New York it was a media circus and didn't end well for the Leafs. Tavares heard it from the crowd all night long and the Leafs lost the game to the Islanders by a score of 6-1. JT is expecting the fans will be caught up in emotion once again. "I'm sure it will probably be somewhat similar," Tavares told NHL.com . "It is what it is. Just going to go out there and try to play well and help the Maple Leafs. "It was going to happen at some point and obviously, going back, it was going to happen again. It's just part of it. Just try to go back and hopefully we can play better than we have."The Leafs are still trying to clinch their playoff spot so it's an important game considering the Leafs play Carolina tomorrow who continue to fight for their lives. Getting two points is easier said than done considering Toronto has lost 7 of their last 10 games. "We just can't give up the opportunities and especially to the middle of the ice that make it tough on our goaltenders," Tavares said. "It's obviously hard to explain, it's just the attention to detail each and every shift. "It's hard to do and you're competing against other teams that are trying to implement what they're trying to do."
