Maple Leafs Confirm Starting Goalie Ahead of Key Eastern Conference Matchup Against Hurricanes

Coming off of a high after sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers during a home-and-home series, and also riding a 5-game winning streak, the Toronto Maple Leafs begin a daunting 6-game stretch that features plenty of top teams and playoff hopefuls. It starts tonight in Raleigh, North Carolina.

After a strong performance his last time out in Philadelphia, the Maple Leafs have turned back to Joseph Woll in goal as he readies himself to face the 24-15-2 Carolina Hurricanes. Woll stopped 30 shots and made several clutch stops near the end of the game to seal the win and thwart any comeback opportunity for the Flyers on Tuesday.

Woll comes into tonight's game wth a 14-6-0 record, a .915 SV%, and a 2.46 GAA, but more importantly, has gone 5-0-0 over his last 5 contests with a scintillating .934 SV% and 2.00 GAA over that span. He has defeated the Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, and the New York Islanders (2x) over that stretch.

The Hurricanes will prove to be his best match to date as the Metropolitan Division juggernauts pose a legitimate threat. While they've struggled lately to the tune of a mediocre 4-5-1 record over their last 10 contests, they still possess star talent in Sebastian Aho, Martin Necas, and Andrei Svechnikov, all of whom the Maple Leafs will need to be mindful tonight.
