"The rumors that the Toronto Maple Leafs want to add a veteran defenseman to the roster have been swirling ever since the puck dropped on the 2017-18 season. We have heard a lot of names over the past few weeks, but now it sure looks like they have been checking out the San Jose Sharks and possibly Paul Martin. Kevin Kurz of The Athletic has been keeping tabs on which teams have been sending scouts to San Jose recently and the Maple Leafs have had scouts at three of the last six Sharks games. They also sent an observer to Wednesday's San Jose Barracuda game where Martin is playing these days. The biggest issue for the Sharks trading Martin is his contract, which has him signed through the 2018-19 season with a $4.8 million salary cap hit. Kurz says that the Sharks could be interested in Dominic Moore in return for Martin, but they would likely have to retain a chunk of salary if any deal with the Leafs is to be made. Do you want to see Paul Martin on the Maple Leafs this season?"
