Maple Leafs goalie Joseph Woll provides an update on the injury scare he endured in the team's win against the New York Islanders on New Year's Eve.

The Toronto Maple Leafs triumphed 3-1 over the New York Islanders in their New Year's Eve game on Tuesdsy, with goaltender Joseph Woll delivering a spectacular performance. Woll stopped 30 of 31 shots, earning a remarkable .968 save percentage.

However, Woll appeared to suffer an injury in the game while attempting to save a shot, and was in some visible discomfort afterward. Despite looking uneasy, he stayed in the game, which raised concerns about his health.

Fortunately, Woll seems to have avoided the worst of it. In an update shared by Jesse Blake on X, he addressed the situation:

''I'm totally fine. Sometimes quick plays like that, like mess up. I don't know, but it goes away, so it was fine.''

This is a relief for Maple Leafs fans, especially since the team is already without Anthony Stolarz for the coming weeks.

Had Woll been injured, the Leafs would have been left with an untested duo of Dennis Hildeby and Matt Murray in goal, which would be far from ideal in today's NHL, where reliable goaltending is crucial to team success.

Woll was not the only player battling through injury in the win. Veteran defenseman Chris Tanev took a puck to the mouth, leaving him in agony. Remarkably, he only missed a few minutes of game time before returning to action.

With injuries already a challenge for the Maple Leafs this season, it was refreshing to see these key players persevere and contribute to the victory.

The Maple Leafs will face the Islanders again on Thursday, and with Woll back in top form and Tanev continuing to play at a high level regardless of his injuries, their chances of repeating today's success look strong.
