According to one NHL Insider, the Maple Leafs are willing to cut President Brendan Shanahan loose if the Leafs don't find success in this year's playoffs.

When MLSE announced their new CEO, Keith Pelley, many believed that Leafs President Brendan Shanahan was on thin ice as he entered the reported final year of his contract.
A few months into his new role, Pelley began cleaning house by by firing the President of the Toronto Argonauts and Toronto FC fueling speculation that Shanahan was next.
So far, Shanahan has weathered the storm, but Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos stated this past week that he believes Shanahan's future hinges entirely on the Leafs' playoff performance this season.
"He has to show that everything over the last ten years is built into this season to make a long, deep playoff run," said Kypreos on a recent edition of the JD Bunkis podcast. "If it doesn't happen, I think he will be held accountable more than anyone else in the organization."
The 'Shanaplan' has worn thin among Leafs fans after years of asking for major changes, but they may finally get one at the very top of the organization if the team falls short of expectations in 2024-25.
While the future of Shanahan is not necessarily at the forefront of anyone's minds with the playoffs looming, it remains one important storyline to follow as the Leafs look to advance as far as they can this Spring/Summer.
