"The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas made some big waves a couple of weeks ago with a power move. After KHL defenseman Mikko Lehtonen mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Jokerit of the KHL, he immediately became the top free agent. The Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils and Los Angeles Kings led the way as top contenders to land his services but it was Toronto that swooped in and stole him from the rest of the league. Lehtonen led the KHL in scoring amongst defensemen and he just walked away with a pretty significant award. The 26 year old was just named the KHL's top defenseman of the year for the 2019-20 season.
