Pontus Holmberg's strong play since the 4 Nations Face-Off has given the Maple Leafs a lot to think about ahead of the March 7th trade deadline.

The Toronto Maple Leafs enjoyed the sweet taste of victory again, winning 5-4 in overtime for a thrilling come-from-behind victory over their rivals, the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. The win propelled the Maple Leafs back into first place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 36-20-2.
One player who has been a key contributor to the Maple Leafs' success since the 4 Nations Face-Off break, surprisingly, is someone who has struggled to put the puck in the net all season: Pontus Holmberg.
"Pontus Holmberg suddenly playing very well and producing since the end of the 4 Nations break. He's making a strong case for himself as either a bottom six staple or a very interesting potential trade chip for the Leafs."
Holmberg has now scored in three consecutive games, tallying 4 goals and 1 assist during this stretch. His most notable goal was a controversial empty-net clincher against the Chicago Blackhawks, which appeared to be offside.
With 13 points in 46 games, Holmberg is on track to set a new career high in points this season.
His emergence couldn't have come at a better time, as he was struggling before the break. He seemed unsure with the puck and lacked the confidence to make plays. Former NHLer Jay Rosehill even pointed out that Holmberg's play appeared panicked and that he seemed uncomfortable on the ice.
For Holmberg and the Maple Leafs, it's crucial that he continues his strong play. If he does, he could provide valuable scoring depth in a bottom-six role or increase his trade value ahead of the deadline next Friday.
