The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas got their offseason started with a bang yesterday. Dubas shipped Kasperi Kapanen and some spare parts to Pittsburgh for basically a first round pick and some spare parts. Well, it seems that's just the start. According to James Mirtle of The Athletic, Dubas is trying to move some other key players. Mirtle reports that Frederik Andersen, Alexander Kerfoot, Pierre Engvall and Andreas Johnsson are all being shopped right now. «According to multiple NHL teams, no fewer than four intriguing Toronto Maple Leafs players are being dangled to varying degrees: Frederik Andersen, Alex Kerfoot, Pierre Engvall, and Andreas Johnsson.» This could be a very, very interesting offseason this year for Leafs' fans. "So while the Leafs makeover may not touch the main core this offseason, it won't play favourites with anyone outside of that group. Dubas is open for business here and not feeling particularly sentimental. He also now has $3.5 million in cap space to offer any of the teams feeling squeezed by the NHL's pandemic-induced flat cap. What's clear is management does not want a repeat of the failures of 2019-20. So they could be busy. This is likely just the beginning."
