The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas landed their back up goalie and some much needed grit in Jack Campbell and Kyle Clifford last week. The focus for Dubas and the Leafs will now be trying to land some help on the blueline. Toronto doesn't have much cap space to play with so many believe that Kasperi Kapanen, Andreas Johnsson or Alexander Kerfoot will be sacrificed to land that defensive depth. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, there seems to be a match with the New Jersey Devils. Pagnotta reports that the Leafs have been linked to defenseman Sami Vatanen of the Devils. The Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets are also showing interest in Vatanen according to Pagnotta. Vatanen will be UFA after this season and carries a $4.875million cap hit so there could be a swap. The 28 year old has 5 goals and 18 assists in 47 games so far this season for the lowly Devils. Do you think he would be a good fit for the Leafs?
