St. Louis Blues' defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has been told he'll hit free agency as the team isn't able to sign him to a new deal. There will be no shortage of teams lining up to try and acquire Pietrangelo and of course one of the teams at the front of the pack will be the Toronto Maple Leafs. However much like many of the other teams, the Leafs aren't exactly overflowing with salary cap space so they'll need to make a move. NHL insider Darren Dreger recently stated that forward William Nylander could be the guy moved out to get that cap space.Nylander has been a bit up and down since signing his new deal and Eklund from Hockey Buzz is hearing he could be headed out West. Eklund lists the Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers as the two most likely destinations for Nylander. Philly doesn't seem likely as general manager Chuck Fletcher is trying to shed salary, however the Wild could be the perfect spot as they only have three forwards currently signed for the 2021-22 season. It would likely be a salary cap dump move much like the Kapanen trade but obviously with a bit bigger of a return. Would you be willing to sacrifice Nylander to have more cap space to make a run at Pietrangelo?
