He is easily one of the most hated players by opponents and their fans, but obviously Tkachuk is a fan favourite for the Florida Panthers. Known for destroying mouthguards, Matthew Tkachuk is having one hell of a summer celebrating the Panthers' Stanley Cup, and yesterday he got his day with the Cup.
While he has been partying non-stop since the victory, he chose to spend his day with the Cup in a less rambunctious way -- giving back to the community in St. Louis.
Of course, it started by having a couple of drinks out of the Cup with his family at their home in St. Louis, but after that, Tkachuk made his way to the children's hospital where he took pictures, signed autographs, and helped children raise the cup above their heads. The Cup and Tkachuk then made their way to the fire department and police department to show their appreciation for all of the hard work the first responders do.
Many see Tkachuk as a pain in the you-know-what, which he is on the ice, but the way he spent his day with the Cup may lead to many realizing that his style of play is what makes him successful and that he is actually a quality person off the ice.
