The 26-year-old winger for the Florida Panthers took to the podium earlier today with his Panthers' second round matchup starting tomorrow night against the Boston Bruins. He cheekily and disrespectfully admitted that he believed all along that the Bruins would come out on top in their 7-game series against the Maple Leafs:
The Bruins took a commanding 3-1 series lead after the Maple Leafs looked a bit lost offensively with Auston Matthews battling an illness and injury and William Nylander missing the first 3 games of the series. The Leafs bounced back and forced a Game 7 after two convincing but tight victories before falling in overtime last night after David Pastrnak's winner.
For Tkachuk to say that the Panthers felt that the Bruins were going to come out on top after how the whole series was going is an interesting take considering the Bruins' play completely faltered after Game 4. Jeremy Swayman's heroics in goal was a big part as to why the Bruins earned the series victory but some of the Maple Leafs superstars did not produce when the opportunity called for it. That was the difference.
The Bruins blew a 3-1 series lead to Florida last year in the first round and will be looking to exact revenge when the puck drops on Monday night.
