NHL's leading scorer injured after nasty spill into the boards
In tonight's late-night tilt involving the New jersey Devils and the St. Louis Blues, the NHL's leading scorer, Jack Hughes, was forced out of the game after crashing into the boards in the first period.
Hughes made easy work of the St. Louis defense as he skated through both of them before firing a shot on goal on Jordan Binnington. Unfortunately, Hughes lost his footing as he was taking the shot and crashed violently into the boards.
Hunched over and in obvious pain, Hughes headed into the dressing room with the help of the Devils' medical staff. He was later ruled out for the remainder of the night.
At that point in the game, Hughes had played 3:55 TOI and had one shot on goal in what was a 0-0 game. Before tonight, Hughes was pacing the NHL with 15 assists and 20 points in just 9 games.
