Drummondville, PQ native and 13-year NHL veteran forward Mathieu Perreault has officially announced his NHL retirement on Thursday, following a career that saw him play a total of 759 NHL games, regular season and playoffs combined.

Perreault was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 6th round (177th overall) back in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He played parts of four seasons with the Caps before moving onto the Ducks for a 69-game (nice) cup of coffee in 2013-14. The following season, Perreault became a Winnipeg Jet and spent the vast majority of his career in Winnipeg.

The 34-year-old signed with the Montreal Canadiens as a UFA last summer and played in just 25 games for the Habs last season, notching just 9 points. The best season of Perreault's career came in the 2016-17 season when he tallied 13 goals and 45 points in 65 games with the Jets.

Perreault ends his NHL career with 143 goals and 353 total points in 708 career regular season games and 16 points in 51 career playoff games.

Congratulations to Perreault on his retirement and all the best to him and his family in whatever comes next.
