20-year-old NHL prospect stretchered off the ice in VHL action after brutal hit from behind, suffers possible career-ending injury
A scary situation has occurred on Monday in the KHL involving Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Kirill Tankov, who was just sent head-first into the boards by Dynamo player Atryom Maltsev, who was ejected from the game for the hit. Tankov had to be stretchered off the ice.
Early word is that Tankov, the Pens' 7th round pick in 2021, is currently in the ICU. The good news is that he was able to move some of his limbs. No further details are available at this time.
Absolutely horrendous way to start off his 20-year-old season. Thoughts and prayers are with Tankov and his family. Hopefully he'll come out of this one alright. We'll provide an update once we have one.
