With the World Juniors having begun on Tuesday, we saw 3 Leafs prospects in action, as Roni Hirvonen and Topi Niemela (Finland) and Matthew Knies (USA) each skated away with the victory with their respective countries. In Hirvonen's case, he also skated away with player of the game honours against Latvia.

Another Leafs draft pick is also making his presence felt late into the summer, as 2022 5th rounder (153rd overall) Nikita Grebyonkin scored himself a beauty in the preseason with his KHL club, Magnitogorsk, in his pursuit of making the team following training camp.

Grebyonkin, 19, is an overager that the Leafs plucked in this year's draft after he put up 17 goals and 47 assists for 64 points in 58 games in the MHL, Russia's equivalent of Major Junior.
