There are a lot of negative stories that circulate around the hockey community, so when we see a good one, we like to report on it as a bit of a timeline cleanser. While this one doesn't relate to the NHL or even to a real life pro hockey player, it does involve an iconic character in the cinematic hockey world - someone we grew up watching and laughing along with. Goldberg the Goalie from The Mighty Ducks.

For those who aren't aware, actor Shaun Weiss has not had an easy life, and following his run as a child actor, Weiss had developed an addiction to methamphetamine, which had almost cost him his life.

A close friend, Drew Gallagher took it upon himself to help Weiss get his life together and on Wednesday, Weiss was able to celebrate two years of sobriety. In the photo below, you can see how Weiss looked just two years ago on the left and how he looks now on the right. An incredible transformation and one that serves as a prime example of someone who worked very hard to turn his life around.

Weiss, now 43, had his teeth almost entirely rot out, but thanks to Dr. Gabe Rosenthal, his smile has been fixed free of charge. The extensive work that Weiss had done would have normally cost upwards of $80,000.

Weiss is now living in a sober living home in California.

Congrats to Weiss, AKA Greg Goldberg, AKA Goldberg the Goalie on two years of sobriety! What an incredible story.
