It was a scary scene in Montreal on Monday night when Toronto's Jake Muzzin and Montreal's Chris Wideman collided in the Habs' defensive zone, causing Muzzin's head to bounce hard off the ice and knocking him out of the game at the end of the second period.

It was good to see Muzzin make his way back to his feet and skate off to the Leafs dressing room under his own power, but it was definitely concerning to see him suffer another head injury - his second in the last six weeks.

Following the game, Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe informed the media that Muzzin was taken to hospital and was expected to undergo some tests and would remain in Montreal overnight. He could not confirm whether Muzzin would spend the night in hospital or be allowed to leave and head back to the hotel after receiving his test results.

It goes without saying that Muzzin did not travel with the team to Columbus and will not be in the lineup against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

You really hope for the best possible outcome here, as suffering multiple concussions in such a short timespan can have very serious long-term health implications.

Muzzin was sidelined with a concussion on January 15th and missed almost a month of action before returning to the lineup on February 10th. Monday's contests against the Habs was Muzzin's 6th game since returning from injury.

We hope to have another update at some point today.
