Many of the suitors in the Jakob Chychrun sweepstakes must be holding their breath right now, as the 23-year-old blueliner went down with a lower-body injury on Saturday after an awkward spill into the boards off of a hard hit by Derek Forbort.

It appeared as though the versatile defender's ankle got trapped along the boards while he absorbed the hit. Chychrun looked very uncomfortable and had to leave the game and did not return. Chychrun is very high on a lot of teams' wish lists, so there were some very concerned onlookers for sure.

On Sunday, TSN's Pierre LeBrun had a bit of an undate on Chychrun. Per LeBrun, Chychrun is traveling back to Arizona to undergo further testing and examination to determine the level of severity of the injury. The blueliner is scheduled to undergo an MRI, which should give the team a better idea of what he's dealing with.

The hope is that the injury is not a significant one. The club is expected to have an update on Chychrun at some point early this week.

It's unclear at this point if it's an injury to his ankle, knee or hip, but hopefully he'll be able to rest up and heal quickly and that surgery is not required. Chychrun could be a real x-factor for the contending team that acquires him, that is if it happens before the deadline.
