Matt Murray has been out since injuring his adductor during a morning skate on October 15th. He finally resumed light skating this week, but there has not been much technical movement in terms of butterfly or side-to-side movement. For the most part, Murray has been a "stand up" goalie since returning to the ice.

During Wednesday morning's media availability, Sheldon Keefe provided an update on the 2-time Cup champ, stating that "he is progressing well. It is part of his plan. [Tuesday] was the day that was scheduled. He has met & stayed on that schedule. From that end of it, I think he is doing well ... He will just continue his process. I think he is still quite a ways away."

It's unfortunate that Murray is still quite a ways away, but at least the Leafs have been getting solid goaltending from Ilya Samsonov, who is curently 5-2-0 with a .920 save percentage and a 2.30 GAA through 7 starts.

If Murray is going to be out much longer though, the Leafs may have to look at bringing in a capable backup for Samsonov as Erik Kallgren has struggled mightily so far in the games he has played. That could be a problem, given the fact that the Buds are currently at 50/50 contracts.
