The NHLPA released the list of arbitration dates for players where either the team or player filed. For those of you that don't know, for an arbitration award, a team must accept it if it is under $4.5M for this season. That means, for a player like Pierre Engvall who resigned with the Leafs last week, if he was awarded $3.5M for the upcoming season, the Leafs would have to find a way to move out salary to accommodate his arbitration award.

Below you'll find some of the more notable players headed to arbitration, including Matthew Tkachuk who is scheduled for the last possible day of August 11th.

July 29

Jesse Puljujarvi (Edmonton Oilers)

August 1

Mathieu Joseph (Ottawa Senators), Steven Lorentz (San Jose Sharks)

August 3

Jesper Bratt (New Jersey Devils)

August 5

Andrew Mangiapane (Calgary Flames)

August 6

Miles Wood (New Jersey Devils)

August 7

Kailer Yamamoto (Edmonton Oilers)

August 10

Oliver Kylington (Calgary Flames)

August 11

Mason Appleton (Winnipeg Jets), Matthew Tkachuk (Calgary Flames), Pavel Zacha (Boston Bruins)

With Tkachuk's hearing on August 11th, it gives the Flames just over 2 weeks to find a sign and trade for him, otherwise Tkachuk will happily accept the one year deal and walk into free agency next off-season. The only way for the Flames to maximize their return in a trade is either to sign him to a long-term deal as part of the trade or trade him as an RFA and allow the receiving team to negotiate his extension before processing the trade. otherwise they will get pennies on the dollar for an asset who is expected to walk as a UFA next summer.
