A year after scoring 60 goals and setting a new franchise record for the highest single-season goal total, Matthews is currently sitting at 497 career points in just 443 career NHL games, just 3 shy of the 500-point mark. What's even more impressive is that he'll be the quickest to 500 points in Maple Leafs history when he does it - hopefully tonight!
Aside from the records that Matthews has already broken in his 6 and a half seasons in Toronto, he's also 5th all-time in power play goals (71), 5th all-time in game-winning goals (48), 8th all-time in goals (276), 7th all-time in even strength goals (205) and 7th all-time in hat-tricks (7). With a season and a half remaining on his current contract, he'll have a legitimate shot at moving up the on a lot of these lists, but if he wants to go down as the greatest player in Leafs history, he'll have to put pen to paper on a brand new contract if he wants to break them all and establish lofty new records for future generations to try and break.
