Just when it looked as though the Leafs might be bound for another disappointing loss against a bottom-feeder team, Michael Bunting and Auston Matthews connected for a nasty goal in the third period to bring the Leafs to within one!
The goal was not announced immediately, despite Matthews emphatically pointing towards the net to inform the officials that the puck had crossed the line.
It had taken the war room a moment to get the confirmation they were looking for before the horn sounded to signify that Matthews had indeed scored his league-leading 44th goal of the season. His reaction was priceless.
