For the 2nd straight year, Auston Matthews is adding a Rocket Richard Trophy to his resume. As teams are wrapping up their seasons and gearing up for the playoffs, the Edmonton Oilers are resting Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, meaning that Draisaitl who sits 5 goals behind Matthews with 55 will officially not catch Matthews in the goal race.

With his 5 goal cushion, Matthews will win his 2nd straight Rocket Richard Trophy with a historic 60 goals in 73 games.

The Rocket isn't the only trophy Matthews could be taking home. He'll likely be a Hart nominee and is the front runner for the trophy. That being said, him and many Leafs have had the mindset that many fans have had where it's the playoffs that matter. It's a great accomplishment for Matthews and hopefully this stellar season carries over into the playoffs.
