Bednar confirmed that they liked what they saw in Galchenyuk at camp but he suffered an injury that will prevent him from playing for "some time". Bednar said it was "just unfortunate" and that the Avs may get in touch with Galchenyuk when he is healthy again.
After reinventing himself in Toronto a couple of seasons ago, Galchenyuk decided to take more money and go to Arizona last season where he put up just 6 goals and 21 points in 60 games. With the Avs tight against the cap, Galchenyuk had an opportunity to earn a spot in the team's bottom six and it was looking like he may have had the inside track until his injury.
