Trotz took over the Islanders in the 18-19 season. Since he took over in Long Island, he turned the Isles into one of the best defensive teams in the league. Trotz had great playoff runs with the Islanders bringing them to two Eastern Conference finals. This season was the first time they didn't make the playoffs under Trotz, and many people questioned why he was relieved of his coaching duties after just one down season.
Fast forward a couple of months and teams are looking to inquire about the veteran coach. Unfortunately, one team you can remove from that list is the Boston Bruins, who are also in the market for a new coach after firing Bruce Cassidy earlier this month.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on the 32 Thoughts podcast, that he doesn't think Trotz is on the Bruins' radar. "I think they're going to somewhere a little newer and different," said Friedman on the podcast.
There is some speculation that Trotz, a Winnipeg native, is eyeing up a deal with the Jets, but there is also some speculation that he could be headed back to Nashville, albeit in more of a front office role, rather than behind the bench.
