We're finally here, ladies and gents! NHL training camps are officially open, which means that the return of NHL hockey is right around the corner! For the Leafs, day one has begun with physicals and off ice work, though some players, such as captain John Tavares and top line left winger Michael Bunting, have already been working on the ice.

Others, like Timothy Liljegren, Pierre Engvall, Mikhail Abramov and Joseph Woll remain sidelined due to injury and will likely not participate in training camp at all. And then there's Rasmus Sandin, who is not at camp at all due to a lack of a contract for the upcoming season.

The upcoming season is a very important one for a number of players and personnel in Toronto, but nobody is facing more pressure to succeed than general manager Kyle Dubas. According to Dubas himself, his job is indeed on the line this season. He was told by President Brendan Shanahan that he would not be receiving a contract extension after 5 straight first round exits. Another early exit in the spring all but guarantees that the Leafs will have a new GM next season. A deep run, however, could mean a lofty extension for the 2018 Calder Cup Champion and Toronto Marlies GM turned Leafs GM.
