As head coach Sheldon Keefe had stated late last week, this was all a part of the plan for Campbell to get a morning skate in today and that if everythint went well during the skate im Boston, he would be a full participant in practice on Wednesday back in Toronto.
Rib injuries are tricky. If the injury was a broken or fractured rib, depending on the severity, an individual can experience discomfort for up to two months afterward. Recovery from this type of an injury is complicated because, with every breath, the rib cage moves.
The Leafs take on the Jets Thursday at Scotiabank Arena, so it is possible Campbell makes his return then, but that depends on how careful they want to be and how well Mrazek plays tonight. If you'll recall, the last time the Leafs and Jets played, Campbell was run into by Pierre-Luc Dubois and roughed up a few times during post whistle scrums. If there is the slightest chance that he is not 100% come Wednesday, expect the Leafs to hold him out of action until at least the weekend.
