Spoiler alert: Connor McDavid is good at hockey. We all know this. It's not exactly breaking news. Still, as good as McDavid is and has been since the Oilers drafted him 1st overall in 2015, there's always a record to break.

McDavid came out hot in the Oilers' first game of the season last night against the Vancouver Canucks. In fact, not only was McDavid a key factor in Edmonton's 5-3 win - he was responsible for/in on 4 out of the 5 of his team's goals and set a franchise record for points in a season opener with an impressive 4 points.

Not only that, but McDavid also tied another franchise record, scoring a hat-trick on opening night - a feat that has only been done twice. Who was the other? Connor McDavid in 2017.

It's crazy to me to think that Wayne Gretzky, in all his glory, has never accomplished either of these feats. You'd figure with 894 goals and 2,857 points, he'd have run up the scoreboard with 4 points on an opening night at some point. Odd that he hasn't, but also a testament to how good Connor McDavid is. Is he a modern-day Gretzky? Maybe not, but he's not far off.
