After the Dallas Stars and Rick Bowness announced a mutual split at the end of the season, the Stars have taken their time to fill their Head Coaching role.

According to Elliotte Friedman and Pierre LeBrun, the Stars have hired former Vegas and San Jose bench boss Pete DeBoer to be the next Head Coach. His tenure in Vegas was full of ups and downs, particularly this past season, as the Knights missed the playoffs and finished 4th in the division after back to back first place finishes. Frustrations boiled over however, as he and Robin Lehner had a public dispute over his injuries.

DeBoer will bring a different voice and message to the Stars' locker room, but will have the same, straight-to-the-point tone with the players that Bowness had. With the Stars filling their coaching vacancy, that leaves the Jets, Bruins and Red Wings as some of the key teams to watch. I'd anticipate that we'll know who lands where in less than two and a half weeks time. I'd imagine that teams will want to fill those spots before the draft.
