Disaster strikes the Leafs as Joseph Woll leaves game against the Sens with significant injury
Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse for the Leafs after all of their injury issues on the blueline, they may have suffered their most significant loss this season after Joseph Woll appears to have suffered a significant injury in the 3rd period against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
The injury appears to have occurred on a routine save from a difficult angle, as Woll was down in his butterfly, leaning to his side and reaching forward to attempt to catch a puck heading toward his blocker side. Following the save, Woll immediately went down to the ice in clear distress.
To make matters worse, Woll could not put any weight on his left leg and needed help off the ice and down the tunnel.
Woll has been on a tear for the Leafs of late, facing more than 35 shots in each of his previous 5 games prior to tonight's meeting in Ottawa. He was 3-1-1 over that stretch.
Aside from maybe William Nylander, Woll has undoubtedly been the Leafs' MVP this season. If he misses a substantial amount of time, this could be disastrous for the Leafs
