The Leafs have yet to sign anyone to a PTO, but we will see at least one former Leaf departing in pursuit of another opportunity. The Dallas Stars are bringing Jordie Benn back to Texas on a PTO for their upcoming training camp.
Benn's stay in Toronto wasn't a long one, coming over last summer as a UFA. He played just 12 games for the Leafs, recording 1 goal and 1 assist, and 23 games for their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, scoring a pair of goals and adding 4 assists for a total of 6 points over that span.
Benn did not appear for the Leafs at all during their playoff run against the Tampa Bay Lightning or the Florida Panthers, but he did appear in 7 playoff games for the Marlies, tallying 3 assists.
The 36-year-old will reunite with his younger brother, Stars captain Jamie Benn, in Dallas. Jordie had previously spent 7 seasons with the Stars organization from 2010-11 to 2016-17.
