On that note, Los Angeles Kings forward Trevor Moore officially inked a new 5-year deal on Thursday, which will kick in in 2023-24 and will run through 2027-28. Moore, 27, will carry a $4.2M cap hit throughout the term of the deal. Not bad for an undrafted, undersized forward.
Moore was signed by the Leafs back in July of 2016. He spent two and a half of the next 3 seasons as a member of the AHL's Toronto Marlies and was a part of the Marlies' Calder Cup championship run, scoring 17 points in 20 games for the Marlies during that run. In 2018-19, the year after winning the Calder Cup, Moore played 46 games with the Marlies before being called up to the main roster, playing 25 games for the Leafs.
On February 5th, 2020, during his second season as a Leaf, Moore was the centerpiece in a deal with the LA Kings for winger Kyle Clifford and goaltender Jack Campbell. Moore played just 15 games for the Kings that season, but became a full-time NHLer the following season, playing in all 56 games for the Kings during the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season, notching 23 points that year.
Last year was Moore's first full 82-game season in LA, though he did miss one game. In 81 games last season, Moore produced 17 goals and a career-best 48 points, adding 5 points in 7 games in the Kings' first round series against the Edmonton Oilers in the 2021-22 Playoffs. So far, through 31 games this season, Moore has tallied 18 points and is a -4.
Congrats to Trevor on his new contract with the Kings. We wish luck for the remainder of this season and throughout the remainder of his first big-money contract with the Kings.
