The appear to have multiple lineup changes coming ahead of tonight's matchup against LA. We already know that Semyon Der-Arguchintsev has been loaned back to the Marlies and we know that with the injury to Victor Mete on Tuesday that there will be a change on the blueline - perhaps T.J. Brodie. As for who will slot in for SDA up front, Denis Malgin was spotted skating in a regular blue jersey on Thursday at the Leafs' morning skate.
Malgin has spent the last 3 games in the press box as a healthy scratch, so there's no doubt that he'll come in hungry and on a mission to prove that he deserves a full-time roster spot.
As one of the team's standout forwards in the pre-season, we have seen first-hand what Malgin is capable of with the right opportunity. At many points this season, Malgin has been a standout on the team's 4th line. Having skated today in a top-six blue jersey, it's possible that we see him slot in next to John Tavares and Mitch Marner, which would be an enormous opportunity for him.
After producing 52 points in 48 games in the Swiss-A league last year, Malgin has been limited to just 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points through 18 games with the Leafs this season.
