Habs hire the GOAT of women's hockey
The Montreal Canadiens announced this morning that they have hired Canadian hockey superstar Marie-Philip Poulin as a player development consultant. Poulin, Captain Clutch, Captain Canada or MPP as many people call her, has already cemented herself as the greatest of all time in women's hockey. She has scored the game winning goal for Canada the last 3 times they have won Gold at the Olympics and she also scored the Gold medal goal in the most recent Women's World Hockey Championship in overtime.
At just 31 years old, she has built a Hall of Fame resume and will undoubtedly be in the HHoF when she retires and this is just the next step in her hockey career. She joins an NHL staff just months after her agent Emilie Castonguay joined the Vancouver Canucks as an Assistant General Manager. She will begin in a part-time role while she continues to pursue her hockey career, but there will obviously be a full-time opportunity available when she decides to retire from playing.
Habs GM, Kent Hughes described MPP as "one of the best players on the planet and she has won at the highest level, which will be very beneficial for our players. Her knowledge, leadership and vision of the game certainly make the Canadiens a better organization."
