Huge hit by Matthew Knies during USA's win against Sweden should get Leafs fans excited
Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Matthew Knies registered another assist on Sunday against Sweden, but it wasn't the offensive contribution that had everyone buzzing.
Knies kicked the physical play up a notch during USA's final game of the preliminary round against a very dangerous Tre Kronor, landing some very solid hits, working hard in front of the net and along the wall. But, it was this hit that Leaf fans are salivating over.
There's no doubt that Knies will bring something to the table that the Leafs do not have an abundance of on the roster at the moment. Intensity and physicality.
At this point, the expectation is that Knies will sign his ELC at the conclusion of his sophomore season with the University of Minnesota in the spring of 2023, just in time to get his feet wet during the final couple of weeks at the end of the season before the playoffs begin.
