Ilya Mikheyev visibly upset after taking a puck off the wrist
Toronto Maple Leafs winger Ilya Mikheyev has sure had more than his fair share of bad luck during his NHL career. Whether it be due to injury or poor puck luck, Mikheyev's two and a half years in the league have been inconsistent at best.
After a snake-bitten 2020-21 season that saw Mikheyev record just 17 points in 54 games, the Russian forward looked solid in training camp, but unfortunately for the 27-year-old, a broken wrist derailed his 2021-22 season before it even started.
Since Mikheyev returned to the lineup on December 14th, he has been absolutely on fire, so it was a bit concerning to see him take a shot off the wrist on Saturday night in Detroit.
Mikheyev tried to shake it off, but was clearly frustrated when he got back to the bench, taking it out on his lumber.
You really just hope he's alright at this point, because his if he didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all. He has returned for the 2nd period, so we'll have to keep an eye on him.
