The Leafs have a couple of questions that they'll need an answer to coming into the 2022-23 season. One of those questions is, how will they address their need at the 2LW position? Well, during the Leafs' preseason matinee against the Ottawa Senators, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and Chris Stewart provided their insights what what the Leafs may have in store to address that need.

Stewart emphasized that the Leafs need to give Nick Robertson a good long look in that spot and not just an in and out look where they put him there and shift him around. Stewie believes that the Leafs need to give Robertson a good 15-20 game run as the team's 2nd line LW to see if he can handle it.

Friedman had a different outlook on the situation. One of the NHL's most trusted insiders, Friedman revealed that it's his opinion that the Leafs are going to go outside of the organization to fill that hole.

There is a lot of early speculation from around the fanbase that Patrick Kane will be a Leaf at some point this season, whether that happens soon or at the deadline. Friedman didn't provide an idea as to who the Leafs might be looking at - just that he believes they'll fill the 2LW spot with someone who is not currently with the organization.
