After a season that started with knee surgery and some time in the NHL/PA's substance abuse and behavioural health program, along with some rehabbing setbacks, Carey Price returned to the Habs lineup a few weeks ago. In a season that was lost very early on, the fact that Price came back showed his commitment to the team. Or that's what people were saying at the time at least.

Renaud Lavoie broke some news this morning that Price admitted he prepared for last nights game as if it would be his last. Could Price returning to the Habs in a lost season be him seeing if he still wanted to/be able to play? It's possible, given that Lavoie also mentioned that Price may need another surgery on his injured knee this off-season.

It would be an awful way to end what is a sure fire Hall of Fame career for Price. He led the Habs to last years cup final, has won the Hart, Ted Lindsay, William M Jennings and Vezina trophies as well as multiple gold medals with Team Canada at all levels of international play. While he doesn't have a Stanley Cup to his name, people often forget that it is the Hockey Hall of Fame, not the NHL Hall of Fame and Price is undoubtedly one of the greatest Canadian goaltenders to ever play the game.

Hopefully this is not the end of the road for Price, only he knows and surely we will learn more over the next few months, but if it is, it was a hell of a career and we wish him nothing but the best.
