The Leafs were handed yet another disappointing loss in Los Angeles on Saturday night, dropping to 4-4-1 on the season. The Buds are still pretty banged up at the moment, with Matt Murray, Timothy Liljegren, Jordie Benn and Jake Muzzin sidelined due to injury, but both Liljegren and Benn are expected to return imminently.

As for Muzzin - he actually traveled with the team to LA. Some had originally begun to speculate that Muzzin might be closer to full health than most had originally thought, but the reason he traveled with the team to LA was actually because he was scheduled to meet with a specialist. It's unclear as to whether the specialist he saw was for his back, neck or head.

Muzzin was sidelined during a game against the Arizona Coyotes on October 17th after colliding with Coyotes forward Clayton Keller behind the Leafs' net. He went down hard and was very slow to get up. The original concern was that perhaps he had suffered his third concussion of 2022, but the official team report was a neck injury.

There have been various reports on Muzzin's status since October 17th, but the most concerning comments came from teammate and close friend Mitch Marner, who showed tremendous concern over Muzzin's long-term health, leading many to believe that Muzzin's injury is serious.

Originally, the Leafs had placed Muzzin on IR, but have since shifted him over to LTIR, meaning that he is sidelined for 24 days and 10 games at the very least. Some are speculating that his career may be over.
