I'm sure that if you ask John Tavares about Saturday's game against the Ottawa Senators, he'll tell you that he's just happy to get the win, but this wasn't just another win for the Leafs' captain.. it was a big time, blowout win against a division rival in what was Tavares' 900th career NHL game.

While there is certainly cause for celebration, It's a shame that it had to happen in front of an empty Scotiabank Arena. After all, this is Johnny Toronto we're talking about here. Our leader. Our captain.. and he deserved an audience.
Tavares has been nothing short of excellent as a Leaf and, unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic, he has been robbed of a big moment in front of a rowdy hometown crowd.
Tavares is a point per game as a Leaf and embodies what it means to be a professional hockey player. He works hard, he never quits on a play, he leads by example and he's had a wonderful career to date.
Congrats to our captain on a big night and leading the Leafs to their third straight victory. Know that Leafs Nation was with you in spirit, cheering you on from home, John. 900 are in the bank, but here's to many more.
