Jumbo Joe has an offer on the table if he wants to continue his NHL career
After spending last season with the Florida Panthers, Joe Thornton has spent most of this summer hard at work, presumably to prepare himself for another kick at the can. For the past couple of weeks Jumbo Joe has been in San Jose and has joined Sharks players for informal skates before training camp began and it sounds like Sharks' GM Mike Grier is open to having Thornton suit up in teal for one final season.
"Things are kind of up to him. I don't know if he wants to play or not play... when he figures that out, and his family figures that out, then I'm sure l'Il have a conversation with him at some point."
Thornton has chased his elusive Stanley Cup the past couple of seasons with Florida and Toronto, and he would need a ton of luck this season if he returned and was traded at the deadline. Regardless of whether or not he gets his cup, Thornton is surely a Hall-of-Famer.
