It's no secret that the Leafs are shopping in earnest for a new goaltender - especially after moving on from Petr Mrazek on Thursday. With a lot of the options being taken off the board with signings and trades during the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, some questions are arising on whether the Leafs are making the necessary waves to address their key problem this offseason.

Per Luke Fox on Twitter, Kyle Dubas has explored moves for every single goaltender who has been traded or who signed a new deal this week. Even though he's doing what he can, the list is still getting smaller by the day.

With clear No. 1 job open, Dubas says he hopes that goaltenders are enticed by opportunity to "play big minutes for a contender" in Toronto. Of the pending UFAs, that could be a message for Stanley Cup winner Darcy Kuemper, who is set to move on from Colorado this summer. The Leafs have the cash to make it work, so now it's just about finding the right candidate.

The Leafs are now likely in need of a true number one goaltender, even more so if Jack Campbell isn't brought back. They are also one of the top teams in the entire NHL, and a chance of obtaining even a little postseason success may be a strong motivator to ramp up the intensity in the goalie search.

Dubas also revealed that teams who have goalies available have been reaching out, so his options have not been completely exhausted yet.
