The COVID-19 situation in Toronto has intensified as the Leafs announced on Tuesday that they have added 6 more players/personnel to COVID protocol.

Per the team's official Twitter account, forwards Ilya Mikheyev, David Kampf, defenseman Rasmus Sandin, goaltender Petr Mrazek, goalie coach Steve Briere and a member of the team's medical staff are now in protocol, joining the 7 players, 2 coaches and 2 support staff who were already there, bringing the total to 17 Leafs players/coaches/personnel on the list.
The NHL announced last week that the Leafs would have all games postponed through the Christmas break, and the team also announced that it would shut down all team facilities and suspend all team activities for the same duration as well.
Now it is looking more and more likely that the league's pause will last longer than originally anticipated.
At this point, I would expect the pause to last into 2022, with the potential to revert to playing in a bubble when play resumes, much like we saw back in 2020 - though nothing has been announced on that front.
