After yet another disappointing loss, this time at the hands of the lowly San Jose Sharks, the Toronto Maple Leafs have made several noteworthy lineup changes ahead of their tilt against the Los Angeles Kings. Perhaps the most interesting move is the addition of prospect Filip Kral and the subtraction of Victor Mete.

The 23-year-old defenseman is expected be paired with veteran Mark Giordano on the third pair. Morgan Rielly/T.J. Brodie and Rasmus Sandin/Justin Holl are slated to remain the same.

Last night, Victor Mete played just 12:04 against the Sharks. He was a plus 1, but didn't record a shot, a hit, or a block. Mete has suited up the previous 4 games, but it seems like Sheldon Keefe wants to shake things up a little and see what he has in Kral. With how poorly the team has played in the early stages of the season, who can blame hm?

Kral has been in the Leafs' system since being drafted in the 5th round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He enjoyed some success with the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL, before splitting time in the Czech Republic and the Toronto Marlies in 2020-21. Since then, he's played in 71 AHL games in parts of 3 seasons. He was absolutely elated to hear that he'll be making his debut tomorrow night against the Kings.
