Leafs fans voted most annoying and it's not even close
Over the weekend a fan survey was conducted by @JFreshHockey on Twitter to determine the league's most annoying fan base. To no one's surprise, Leafs fans were voted most annoying, by an absolute landslide.
Leafs fans collected more than 45% of possible votes with the next closest team, the New York Rangers collecting a mere 20% of votes in comparison. Of course Leaf fans were voted most annoying, but could one of the reasons be that it's because every time another team does something, someone finds away to link it to the Leafs? There's a good possibility of that.
It likely doesn't help that the Leafs get national coverage on both TSN and Sportsnet regardless of whether or not they are playing. It's well known the Leafs have the largest fan base in the entire NHL, Toronto isn't called the "Hockey Mecca" for no reason. Given the fact that they have the largest fan base, and get the most media coverage, Leafs fans will undoubtedly be more active on social platforms.
It's not our fault that we have beach front real estate in every other fan bases' heads. Love us or hate us we're always on your minds.
